Trackdesk provides a set of automation scenarios that help you connect your Mailchimp audience with your affiliate program.

Using the Mailchimp Popular Template, you can automatically create contacts in Mailchimp based on affiliate activity in Trackdesk, or update tags when an affiliate’s status changes.

You can also build your own custom automation workflows using Custom Automations, where many more triggers and actions are available.

This article explains how to access the Mailchimp Popular Template, enable its scenarios, and customize them to fit your workflow.

Accessing the Mailchimp Popular Template

To access the template:

  1. Log in to your Trackdesk workspace.

  2. In the main menu on the left, click Integrations.

  3. The Popular Templates section loads automatically.

  4. Scroll to the E-mailing category.

  5. Select the Mailchimp ↔ Trackdesk template.

This template contains all Mailchimp automation scenarios predefined by Trackdesk.

Available Scenarios

The Mailchimp Popular Template includes three ready-to-use scenarios:

  • Create contact in Mailchimp when affiliate signs up
    Sends a newly registered affiliate from Trackdesk into Mailchimp as a new contact.

  • Create contact from conversion customer
    Creates a Mailchimp contact using the customer email associated with a Trackdesk conversion.

  • Tag contact on affiliate status change
    Updates the Mailchimp tag of a contact when the corresponding affiliate’s status changes in Trackdesk.

Each scenario can be activated independently.

Connecting Mailchimp

When installing your first Mailchimp-related scenario, Trackdesk will prompt you to authorize your Mailchimp account.

To connect Mailchimp:

  1. Click Install next to any Mailchimp scenario.

  2. Follow instructions on the screen to connect and authorize access to your Mailchimp account.

  3. Confirm the connection.

Installing and Enabling a Scenario

To enable a scenario:

  1. Open the Mailchimp Popular Template.

  2. Click Install on the scenario you want to activate.

  3. Select your Mailchimp account if prompted.

  4. Add required information into the builder if needed.

  5. Toggle the scenarios on by using the switch on the row of the scenario or the Start button at the bottom.

Once enabled, Trackdesk will automatically trigger the workflow whenever the corresponding affiliate or conversion event occurs.

Customizing Scenarios

Depending on the scenario, you can adjust:

  • Which affiliate events should create or update contacts

  • Mapping of custom fields between Trackdesk and Mailchimp

  • Which tags should be applied based on affiliate status

  • Additional filters or conditions

These options help you tailor the integration to your specific newsletter or audience-management needs.

Troubleshooting

Contacts not appearing in Mailchimp?
• Ensure the scenario toggle is ON.
• Verify the contact email exists and is valid.
• Confirm your Mailchimp authorization is active.

Tags not updating?
• Check that the affiliate status change corresponds to your scenario configuration.
• Verify the contact exists in Mailchimp.

Template not visible?
• Refresh the Integrations page. Popular Templates update automatically.
