Trackdesk provides a set of automation scenarios designed to help you sync your Mailchimp audience with your affiliate program.
By using the Mailchimp Popular Template, you can automatically create contacts in Mailchimp based on affiliate activity in Trackdesk or update tags whenever an affiliate's status changes. While these templates cover common needs, you can also build unique workflows from scratch using Custom Automations for even more triggers and actions.
1. Accessing the Mailchimp Popular Template
Follow these steps to find the template in your dashboard:
Log in to your Trackdesk workspace.
Click Integrations in the main sidebar menu.
The Popular Templates section will load automatically.
Scroll down to the E-mailing category.
Select the Mailchimp Trackdesk template.
2. Available Automation Scenarios
The Mailchimp Popular Template includes three ready-to-use scenarios:
Create contact in Mailchimp when affiliate signs up: Automatically adds a newly registered Trackdesk affiliate to Mailchimp as a new contact.
Create contact from conversion customer: Uses the customer email from a Trackdesk conversion to create a new Mailchimp contact.
Tag contact on affiliate status change: Updates a contact's Mailchimp tag whenever their affiliate status changes in Trackdesk.
Each scenario can be activated independently.
3. Connecting Your Mailchimp Account
When you install your first Mailchimp scenario, you will be prompted to authorize your account:
Click Install next to any Mailchimp scenario.
Follow the on-screen instructions to authorize Trackdesk to access your Mailchimp account.
Confirm the connection to proceed.
4. Enabling a Scenario
To get your automation running:
Open the Mailchimp Popular Template.
Click Install on the specific scenario you wish to use.
Select your connected Mailchimp account when prompted.
Enter any additional required information into the builder if requested.
Toggle the scenario to ON using the switch on that row, or click the Start button at the bottom.

Once enabled, Trackdesk automatically triggers the workflow whenever the relevant affiliate or conversion event occurs.
5. Customization Options
You can tailor each integration to fit your specific audience-management needs by adjusting:
Which specific affiliate events trigger a contact update or creation.
The mapping of custom data fields between Trackdesk and Mailchimp.
Which tags are applied based on specific affiliate statuses.
Any additional filters or conditional logic.

6. Troubleshooting
Contacts are not appearing in Mailchimp
Check that the scenario toggle is set to ON.
Ensure the contact's email address is valid and formatted correctly.
Confirm your Mailchimp authorization is still active.
Tags are not updating
Verify that the specific affiliate status change matches your scenario configuration.
Confirm the contact already exists within your Mailchimp audience.
Template is not visible
Try refreshing the Integrations page. Popular Templates update automatically
