Intercom Popular Templates

Trackdesk provides a set of automation scenarios that allow you to sync data between Intercom and your affiliate program.

Using the Intercom Popular Template, you can automatically create users in Intercom when affiliates sign up in Trackdesk, or create affiliates in Trackdesk when new users are added in Intercom.

You can also build your own custom automation workflows using Custom Automations, where many more triggers and actions are available.

This article explains how to access the Intercom Popular Template, enable its scenarios, and customize them to match your workflow.

Accessing the Intercom Popular Template

To access the template:

  1. Log in to your Trackdesk workspace.

  2. In the main menu on the left, click Integrations.

  3. The Popular Templates section loads automatically.

  4. Scroll to the CRM category.

  5. Select the Intercom ↔ Trackdesk template.

This template contains all Intercom automation scenarios predefined by Trackdesk.

Available Scenarios

The Intercom Popular Template currently offers two ready-to-use scenarios:

  • Create new user in Intercom when affiliate signs up
    Creates a new user in Intercom whenever an affiliate signs up in Trackdesk.

  • Create affiliate when new user registers in Intercom
    Creates a Trackdesk affiliate automatically when a new user is created in Intercom.

You can enable either scenario independently.

Connecting Intercom

When installing your first Intercom-related scenario, Trackdesk will prompt you to authorize your Intercom account.

To connect Intercom:

  1. Click Install next to any Intercom scenario.

  2. Follow instructions on the screen to connect and authorize access to your Intercom account.

  3. Confirm the connection.

Installing and Enabling a Scenario

To enable a scenario:

  1. Open the Intercom Popular Template.

  2. Click Install on the scenario you want to activate.

  3. Select your Intercom account if prompted.

  4. Add required information into the builder if needed.

  5. Toggle the scenarios on by using the switch on the row of the scenario or the Start button at the bottom.

The automation will start running immediately after started and selected events start triggering.

Customizing Scenarios

Depending on your needs, you can customize:

  • Which fields from Intercom or Trackdesk should be passed to the other system

  • Additional conditions to filter which users or affiliates should be synced

  • Optional logic added through Custom Automations

Customization helps align the integration with your operational setup.

Troubleshooting

Users or affiliates not being created?
• Ensure the scenario toggle is ON.
• Check that required data fields (such as email) are present.
• Verify that Intercom authorization is still active.

Template not appearing?
• Refresh the Integrations page. Popular Templates load automatically.
