The payout builder allows you to create a set of conditions that, when met, will automatically adjust the payout and/or revenue for conversions. You can increase or decrease these values based on the conditions you set.
You can also view this feature as an interactive demo here.
Feature update history:
22/11/24: added conversion types as a targeting condition.
17/07/25: added AffS parameters as a targeting condition.
Getting started
To begin, navigate to the Payout builder page from the Tools section of the main menu. You can create multiple custom payouts for different scenarios. To create a new custom payout, click Add custom payout.
In the side modal, give your custom payout a name. This is for your reference, so choose a name that makes sense to you (for example, "Special Affiliate Promo").
Next, create condition sets that will trigger the payout adjustment. You can also omit conditions if you want the payout or revenue adjustment to apply to all conversions (useful for blanket promotions or limited-time deals).
Setting up conditions
Conditions are grouped into "condition sets". All conditions within the same set operate under AND logic: all conditions in the set must be met to trigger the payout adjustment.
You can also create multiple condition sets for a custom payout. Condition sets operate under OR logic: at least one condition set must be met for the custom payout to apply.
To create a condition set, click Add condition set.
You can then add various options to the condition set, such as:
Affiliates: select specific affiliates whose payouts you'd like to adjust. All conversions from these affiliates will be affected.
Tier: target all affiliates in a selected tier. This is useful in combination with the affiliate tier automation feature.
Offer: choose one of two options:
Target all offers (with an option to exclude specific ones).
Target only explicitly selected offers.
Category: target offers within a specific category. Categories are managed globally for the workspace; you can create new ones inline via the Manage categories button.
Tags: target offers with specific tags. Tags are managed globally for the workspace; you can create new ones inline via the Manage tags button.
Conversion types: target only specific conversion types.
AffS parameters: target specific AffS slots (S1βS5). Each slot can use the Is one of operator (value matches any entry in your list) or the Is empty operator (the AffS slot has no value on the original click). Each slot can have its own condition; conditions across slots are AND-ed together.
Conversion count: specify when the adjustment should apply, based on the number of approved conversions from the same click. Only approved conversions count; pending, rejected, refunded, blocked, and fraud conversions don't contribute. The current conversion is included in the count, so a Min: 2 condition fires from the second approved conversion onward on a given click.
Use the Min input to set a condition that applies after a certain number of conversions (for example, after 2 conversions, adjust payout/revenue). This is useful for scenarios like rewarding the first purchase with a full payout, while decreasing the payout for subsequent purchases.
Use the Max input to adjust before a certain number of conversions (for example, adjust payout/revenue for the first conversion only). This could be useful for encouraging retention through ongoing rewards.
You can combine the Min and Max settings to apply different payouts within a specific conversion count range.
Adjusting payouts
For each custom payout, you can choose to either increase or decrease the payout and/or revenue on a percentage basis:
Increase: adjust payouts/revenue by up to 1000%.
Decrease: reduce payouts/revenue by up to 100% (setting them to zero).
When multiple custom payouts match
If a conversion matches more than one custom payout, only the first matching one is applied; adjustments do not stack. Custom payouts are evaluated in the order they appear on the Payout builder page (top first). Design overlapping rule sets with this in mind: put the more specific or higher-priority custom payouts above broader ones.
Managing existing custom payouts
All custom payouts are displayed on the payout builder page. You can edit the conditions and adjustments by clicking Edit.
If you want to pause a custom payout temporarily, set it to Inactive via the three-dot menu. It stays in the list but stops applying to new conversions. You can flip it back to Active at any time. The three-dot menu also lets you delete a custom payout entirely.
Custom payouts apply to new conversions processed after the rule is saved or enabled. Past conversions are not re-priced, even if you later add or edit a custom payout that would have matched them.
Every create, edit, deactivate, reactivate, and delete action on a custom payout is recorded in the Activity log (Enable/Disable changes are logged as edits, not as separate events), so you can audit who changed what and when.
