Google-certified tracking domains provide an alternative way to create affiliate tracking links that comply with Google's requirements for tracking across different websites. This feature gives you more flexibility in how you generate tracking links for your affiliate program.

Certified Google tracking domain is an on-demand feature, that's not natively included in any subscription plan.

If you're interested in using it, please contact sales.

How It Works

When you enable Google-certified tracking domains, your affiliates can generate tracking links that work differently from standard redirect links:

Standard System Domains:

  • Traffic flows through your redirect service

  • All targeting rules and caps are applied automatically

  • Affiliates can choose from available redirect domains

  • The system decides which landing page to show based on your configured rules

Google-Certified Domains:

  • Affiliates select a specific landing page upfront

  • Traffic goes directly to the chosen landing page

  • Targeting rules are bypassed for more predictable routing

  • Links are optimized for Google's tracking requirements

Available Options

You can configure three different modes for your affiliate program:

System Domains Only

Use traditional redirect tracking where affiliates choose from your available redirect domains. The system handles all routing and targeting automatically.

Google-Certified Only

All tracking links use Google-certified domains. Affiliates must select a specific landing page when generating their tracking link. This provides the most predictable behavior and best compatibility with Google's tracking standards.

Both

Give your affiliates the flexibility to choose between system domains and Google-certified domains for each tracking link. This is useful if you have different needs for different campaigns or affiliates.

Creating Tracking Links

When generating a tracking link with Google-certified domains:

  1. Select affiliate

  2. Choose a specific landing page - This is required (unlike system domains where it's optional)

  3. Optionally enable deep linking if you want to direct traffic to a specific subpage

  4. Generate your tracking link

The resulting link will direct traffic to your chosen landing page while still tracking all affiliate performance data.

Important Considerations

Landing Page Targeting Override:

When using Google-certified domains, any landing page targeting rules you've configured are overridden. The affiliate's selected landing page will always be used, regardless of visitor attributes like location, device, or other targeting criteria.

Deep Linking:

If you enable deep linking on a Google-certified tracking link, affiliates can customize the final destination URL to point to specific subpages of your landing page (for example, directing to a specific product page instead of the homepage).

Tracking Accuracy:

All conversion tracking, affiliate attribution, and commission calculations work the same way with Google-certified domains as they do with system domains. Only the routing behavior changes.

Limitations

  • No Dynamic Targeting: Unlike system domains, Google-certified links don't support conditional landing page selection based on visitor attributes

  • Landing Page Required: Affiliates must always select a specific landing page when generating links

  • Configuration Access: This feature requires specific plan access and must be enabled by your account administrator
