The dashboard every user lands on after login is a grid of widgets, and each user can rearrange it to suit the way they work. With Default dashboard layout you decide what that grid looks like before they touch it — which widgets are on it, where they sit, and how they are set up — separately for each role in your account.
This article covers where the setting lives, how to build a layout for a role, and how your default interacts with the changes your users make on their own dashboards.
Where to find the setting
Navigate to Settings → General → Dashboard and reports. The Default dashboard layout panel lists every role in your account — Admin, Advertiser (for users on Network plans), Affiliate, Affiliate Manager, and Super Affiliate Manager.
Roles that already have a layout saved show Configured under the role name. Roles without one fall back to Trackdesk's built-in arrangement.
Configuring a layout for a role
Navigate to Settings → General → Dashboard and reports.
Find the role you want to configure and click Configure layout.
A wide side panel opens, headed Default dashboard for [role], with a working dashboard inside it.
Click Manage widgets and tick the widgets that belong on this role's dashboard, unticking the ones that don't.
Drag a widget by its header to move it, and drag its corner handle to resize it. Widgets snap to the same 12-column grid used on the real dashboard.
Set up the widgets themselves — chart metrics, table columns, funnel steps — exactly as you want your users to find them.
Click Save layout.
The layout is stored for that role only. Repeat the steps for every role you want to control; roles you skip keep the built-in arrangement.
The editor works with live data
💡 The widgets in the editor are real, not a preview. They load the past month of your account's actual data, and every control inside them works. If you click approve on an affiliate sign-up or an offer application while you are arranging the layout, that approval goes through.
Use the editor to place and configure widgets, and handle approvals and other day-to-day actions from your own dashboard instead.
What the default layout stores
Widget selection — which widgets appear on the dashboard for that role.
Position and size — where each widget sits on the grid and how large it is.
Widget configuration — the settings you make inside individual widgets: the metrics and comparison shown on Performance, the metric cards on Quick overview, the visible columns and their order on Best performing affiliates and Best performing offers, and the funnel setup on Funnel.
Widgets available for each role
The widget list in the editor is limited to what the role can access, so you'll see a different set depending on which role you're configuring:
Admin — Performance, Quick overview, Best performing affiliates, Best performing offers, Latest conversions, New affiliates sign-ups, Offer applications, Alerts, and Funnel. Network accounts also get the Tracking link generator.
Affiliate Manager, Super Affiliate Manager, and custom roles — Performance, Best performing affiliates, Best performing offers, Latest conversions, New affiliates sign-ups, and Funnel.
Advertiser — Performance, Quick overview, Best performing offers, Latest conversions, Open balance, and Funnel.
Affiliate — Performance, Latest conversions, Billing, Recent settlements, and Funnel.
For a description of what each widget shows, see Dashboard and Reports.
How the default reaches your users
Every user's dashboard is matched to the layout saved for their role, and their own customizations sit on top of it:
Users who have never rearranged their dashboard see your layout exactly as you saved it.
Users who have already customized keep their own positions and sizes. Widgets they have never placed come from your default, so a widget you add later still reaches them.
Showing and hiding widgets — a widget a user has explicitly switched on or off in Manage widgets stays that way for them. Everyone else follows your selection.
Widget configuration — your columns, metrics, and funnel setup are the starting point, and a user's own choices inside a widget take over from there.
Users pick up your changes the next time they load the dashboard. Any user can come back to your layout with Manage widgets → Reset to default on their own dashboard, which clears their personal arrangement, widget visibility, and widget settings.
Resetting a role to the built-in layout
Open the editor for the role and click Reset to default above the grid. Your saved layout for that role is removed straight away, the Configured label disappears from the role row, and users on that role fall back to Trackdesk's built-in arrangement. There is no confirmation step, so use it deliberately.
