What makes a click unique?

A click is considered unique based on a combination of:

  • User agent (browser/device)

  • IP address

  • Offer and time window

If the same user clicks the same offer multiple times within a 1-hour window, these clicks are counted as a single unique click.

For example:

  • A user clicks a link at 2:15 PM

  • Clicks again at 2:45 PM
β†’ This is counted as one unique click

Gross clicks vs unique clicks

  • Unique clicks β†’ first click within the defined time window

  • Gross clicks β†’ all clicks, including repeated visits

Repeated clicks within the same time window are recorded as gross clicks.

πŸ’‘ Why numbers may differ from other platforms

If you are using Trackdesk alongside other tracking tools, you may notice differences in click counts.

This can happen because:

  • Other platforms may count bot traffic

  • Different platforms use different time windows for uniqueness

  • Tracking methodologies may vary

βœ… Summary

  • Unique clicks are based on IP + user agent + time window

  • Multiple clicks within 1 hour count as one unique click

  • Additional clicks are tracked as gross clicks
